We love awards season because you can download scripts (for free! Legally!), grab tons of screenplay pdfs and devour all of the best screenplays for movies released this year. Yay!
Why is Screenplay Season so amazing? Well, first of all coz all the screenplays are free. (And as struggling screenwriters, who doesn’t love free??) During this magical time of year, studios vying for the gold literally give away the best examples of screenwriting you can find, in the hope of tempting guild members into reading and voting for their screenplays in the various awards. So they all have “For Your Consideration” sites listing all manner of content: behind-the-scenes stills and videos, and, of course, what we’re most excited about, the screenplays. The only caveat: all screenplays are for educational purposes only. Speaking of which…
Since screenwriters need to read screenplays in order to write ’em, what could be better than reading screenplays written by the best screenwriters? Screenwriters who have already done what we want to do; get their screenplays finished, optioned, and made! So when you read the best, you can learn from the best, and, hopefully, become the best!
When you read screenplays, you absorb the cadence of the Action… find the patterns in the patter of Dialogue… get a feel for the succinctness of Scenes. (And! You’ll discover that all Screenwriting Rules are made to be broken — but you have to know you’re breaking them!)
I’ve been downloading and reading Awards Season screenplays for a long, long time. I have a shelf lined with every iteration of iPad (all with cracked screens!) that I keep just because they are stuffed with the many amazing screenplays I’ve downloaded over the years. And every year, my screenplay collection grows thanks to this once-a-year, studio sanctioned, bonanza of free scripts to download. And with the links below, you can start — or grow! — your own collection of scripts too!
So without further ado… Here are the links to the best movie script pdfs and screenplay downloads for the 2022 Awards Season. Enjoy!
Download these scripts now; after awards season, they’ll be gone!
